Living by the Seasons God Made
By Heather Eden, LPC, CHC · October 2026
Psalm 1 says the rooted tree brings forth fruit in its season. Not all fruit, all the time — fruit in its season. There is a kindness in that phrase, if we let it reach us.
You are not behind
So much of our weariness comes from expecting harvest in a planting season, or grieving a winter as if it were a failure. But winter is not the tree failing; it is the tree resting, roots going deeper underground where no one sees. Some seasons of your life will look like nothing is happening. Something is happening.
Let the season shape your care
In autumn, wind down earlier and nourish deeply. In winter, rest more and ask less of yourself. In spring, begin again. In summer, enjoy the light. Your body, your sleep, your supplements, and your schedule can all move gently with the year instead of fighting it.
Trust the Gardener
Seasons change whether we cooperate or not. The peace comes in trusting the One who set them in motion — and who tends you through every single one.
"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." — Ecclesiastes 3:1
